Moving Forward

LORD understands that we need to engineer and implement solutions that introduce technological innovation in ways that bring about higher levels of efficiency to the way our cities and people move across the landscape.

Since 1965, LORD has been active in power, signal and communications projects for major railroad and transit systems clients in the United States. These projects have included station lighting, power, fire alarm and security systems, automated toll-gateways, gas-insulated bus switchyards, traction power, public address systems, track lighting, signal systems, communications systems and automatic train control systems, to name a few.

Turn-Key Transit Solutions

In Puerto Rico, LORD drew from the skills and expertise of the LORD/MASS partnership in the mainland to work on San Juan's Tren Urbano.  Phase I of this high-tech transportation project comprised a 12 mile high-capacity, double track exclusive guide way system connecting key activity centers within the metropolitan region, a region where 37% of Puerto Rico's population resides.  The Tren Urbano project was the first, entirely new U.S. rail system built utilizing the Turn-key approach. Basic issues, such as team leadership, team composition, partnering, project management, and risk sharing were all significant for its completion.

Highway Systems

LORD's, subsidiary Continental Lord has performed several installations of highway lighting systems, traffic control signal systems, and all the required electrical installations for transportation systems and highways.  Of note is the recent work installing the state of the art Toll Collection System on the Island's main highways. Continental Lord was responsible for rewiring and revamping the complete highway road lighting systems and installing throughout the Autoexpreso Toll System.
